Wine...
There are over 20 cellar doors within a few kilometres of The Old Post Office, so it is easy to spend a few days exploring the huge variety of wines produced in the area. Take time to meander between vineyards, comparing styles and vintages, and be sure to eat at one of the vineyard restaurants overlooking the vines.
A map of the region showing the location of wineries can be found at the Rutherglen web site.

You can try 10 year old Rutherglen Shiraz with blue ribbon lamb, Murray Cod with a wonderful old Semillon or Chardonnay, a great antipasto platter with a splash of local extra virgin olive oil, washed down with a Rose or Sparkling Shiraz, a plate of yabbies with a cold beer, Hume Weir smoked trout pate and a crisp Riesling, or a chargrilled rump with a glass of rich, great value, Rutherglen red.
